Old State House

Designed by Charles Bulfinch, this 1796 Federal-style building was the site of the Hartford Convention and the first Amistad trial. Said to be the nation's oldest statehouse, the building served as Connecticut's seat of government until the present capitol building opened in 1878. Costumed interpreters portray pivotal figures in Hartford's history.
