Esther Gordy Edwards founded the Motown Historical Museum in 1985. The Motown Historical Museum chronicles the rise of Motown Records. Founder of the Motown Record company and producer on many of the hits of the 60s, Berry Gordy helped to open doors formerly closed to African-American musicians. The museum features Berry Gordy's apartment, the studio where many of the hits were recorded and a plethora of artifacts spanning the last forty years.
