Drayton Hall

Built about 1738 by John Drayton, a member of the Privy Council of the royal governor, the mansion remain in the family for seven generations. Never modernized with electric lighting, plumbing or central heating, the house is virtually in its original condition. An outstanding example of Georgian Palladian architecture, it is noted for hand-carved woodwork and plasterwork.
