| Hershey Park Pennsylvania Information
Today, the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, is a Mecca for chocoholics. But few know that the founder of this chocolate empire, Milton S Hershey, actually started in business with the Lancaster Caramel Company. From the caramel business he developed the concept of mass-produced, affordable confections. Today the Hershey Foods Corporation is the leading North American producer of quality chocolate confectionery and other products. It is probably best known for the Hershey's chocolate bars, Mounds, Almond Joys, Reese's cups, and chocolate baking products.
The theme of chocolate is evident everywhere, and the aroma of chocolate is in the air. Your first stop might be Hershey's Chocolate World Visitors Center, which is open daily. At the center you will meet product characters, see how chocolate is made, see a 3D show, and "surprise!" eat some chocolate if you desire.
The focus of most of the area activity is Hershey Park, which was originally established as a park for the Hershey employees, but became a public theme park in 1971. The park has more than 60 rides, including 10 roller coasters, water rides, kiddie rides, and a park zoo. The Park goes all out for holidays, including Halloween and Christmas. Nearby attractions include the Hershey Museum, Hershey Gardens and the Founders Hall of the Milton Hershey School. |
