Centennial Olympic Park came alive in 1996 with the foresight of Billy Payne, the chief executive of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. The 21-acre Park is the largest new city park to be created in the US in over 20 years and is home to over 750 trees, 50,000 shrubs, 330,000 square feet of grass, the world's largest interactive fountain, and numerous pieces of art and statutes both inspiring and pleasant to the eye.
Centennial Olympic Park also known as Atlanta's number one gathering place made its debut during the 1996 Olympic Games and will forever be a lasting part of its heritage.
To this day the Park continues to host special events, sponsors community-wide free events, hosts festivals, fundraisers and will host private events at request. The Park also has the only outdoor skating rink in Atlanta along with its beautiful Fountain of Rings, a dancing water show that is synchronized to lights, sound effects and music. Whether you visit in the Winter or Summer, there's always something for everyone to do.
